Statutes of England, 39 Eliz 1, c 6; this was the predecessor of the 1601 statute of charitable uses. It is usually simply referred to as the 1597 statute of charitable uses but you might also see the short title, the Charitable Uses Act, 1597. These two pieces of charity legislation were the culmination of charity-related measures integrated into the “Poor Laws”, an extensive reinvention of England’s social safety net done mainly by the government of Queen Elizabeth 1.
